A BIT ABOUT OUR CHARITIES

Emma's Embrace

Words from charity page.

"Emma Kirk was a young woman with huge potential and spent her life trying to fight injustice and help others. On the 27th October 2018, Emma sadly passed away. Eight months before she died, Emma had a breakdown and as she began her recovery, she realised that there was little or no support for people in her situation."

"Today, young people are under a large amount of pressure, and are dealing with a wide range of issues. Although there are services available for those in crisis, once the crisis has been resolved, there is little support available and young people are left with nowhere to turn."

"In order to remember Emma, and pay tribute to her life, we want to raise money to set up a charity called Emma‘s Embrace that will help young people between the ages of 16 and 25, who are struggling with the pressures of adult life.

Right now Parents are battling alone to combat the negative effects of social media, too many of us losing that battle with tragic consequences."

"It is time for social media giants to practice social responsibility and take positive action to support parents everywhere to promote healthy lifestyle choices for our young people."

"The Government is proposing undertaking research to understand more about the effects of social media  https://www.theguardian.com/media/2019/mar/18/social-media-addiction-should-be-seen-as-disease-mps-say , however whilst this is being undertaken the mental wellbeing of our young people will continue to be at risk."

"We are demanding that the government take immediate action to require social media giants to employ the same techniques that are currently used for commercial gain i.e. to use Pop Ups to influence positive choices, promoting physical and mental wellbeing of our young."

"Some examples of Pop Ups would be:

  •        Importance of not using electronic devices before bedtime,

  •        Importance of physical exercise,

  •        Importance of having a good night sleep,

  •        Importance of talking face to face with friends and family."

Mind

Words from charity page.

"We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect."

"Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. But hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling. We believe no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We’ll listen, give you support and advice, and fight your corner."
